Welcome to Kat's Corner!
Agency updates and insight from Housing Hope's CEO, Kathryn Opina.
Consultant coaches are working with us to improve our systems and performance.
In the transition of executive leadership, the Board recruited a part-time strategic advisor to assist the Strategic Leadership Team and me in stabilizing the organization. Sean Heron commenced his position as strategic advisor on March 1, 2025. He has a lengthy and diverse background in affordable housing, including extended tenures at both the Oakland Housing Authority (California) and King County Housing Authority. His most recent leadership roles were as the Deputy Director at Plymouth Housing and the Interim Executive Director of Imagine Housing, both in King County.
Sean’s expertise in affordable housing is really timely for our organization, given the challenges we have been facing. His primary role is serving as an advisor to the Board of Directors, as well as to me and the Strategic Leadership Team. Sean has contributed to the 2025 Stabilization Plan. He has also provided key resources for the organization, including experts like Jenny Tripp, the former CFO of the Downtown Emergency Services Center in Seattle.

Jenny, who also works part-time, has been collaborating with us to reorganize our financial reporting and structures.
“I’m working alongside the finance team and leadership to strengthen systems, mentor staff, and build lasting economic stability. Having spent over a decade working with organizations focused on reducing homelessness, this mission particularly resonates with me, and I want to help ensure the organization remains strong for the people and communities who depend on it.”
We are incredibly thankful for this opportunity to work with Jenny and Sean, and we are already gaining significant confidence and measure with the changes that have been put in place.
