Why is Housing Hope building a new location for Tomorrow’s Hope Child Development Center?
Tomorrow’s Hope’s current facility is a former restaurant that was renovated into a childcare facility over 20 years ago. This facility has long outlived its useful life and the physical constraints of the site make additional expansion impossible. Housing Hope has taken advantage of every possible opportunity to expand this facility to meet the community’s needs. In fact, both School Age classrooms are in an adjacent building across the parking lot from the main facility. In 2022, Tomorrow’s Hope converted a conference room in this building so that it could be used as a second School Age classroom. There is no other space in either building to expand services, and if Housing Hope were able to add to either building’s footprint, it would trigger additional parking requirements that are not possible on the existing site.
With the construction of a new facility, Housing Hope is addressing several issues related to the community’s capacity to provide childcare and related services:

Lack of childcare slots that are affordable to working families and families living in poverty.

Lack of employment training programs for adults seeking to enter the early childhood education field, particularly those facing barriers to employment.

Lack of behavioral health services for children under age 12 and their parents, particularly for children who have experienced early traumas such as poverty, homelessness, or involvement with the child welfare system.
What ages of children will be served? How many classrooms will there be?
Tomorrow’s Hope’s new facility will have 13 classrooms serving children four weeks to 12 years of age, with full-day care provided for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, and before school, after school, and school break care for children in Kindergarten through fifth grade.
What specialized services will be available to families utilizing Tomorrow’s Hope?
Tomorrow’s Hope Child Development Center provides full-day, trauma-informed childcare for children who have experienced homelessness, poverty, or other early traumas. Services for households experiencing homelessness are coordinated primarily with local shelters and CPS entities. Tomorrow’s Hope prioritizes families coming from these circumstances by setting aside a designated number of childcare slots and tries to remove as many stressors as possible for families. Households never have to supply their own diapers or formulas for their children. This new facility is being built with the entire family in mind. Households will have access to on-site resources including showers, laundry, a pantry, and computer stations.
For any children who need specialized supports, Tomorrow’s Hope works closely with the Everett Public School District’s Developmental Pre-K program and ChildStrive. For children from birth to age three, they are referred to ChidStrive for holistic support with the parent/caregiver and work with the ChildStrive team to build on family strengths to address any complex needs. ChildStrive staff come into Tomorrow’s Hope to deliver services and participate in weekly Care Team meetings to identify children who may need services. Children who are three years old and older receive services through the school district. Through this referral, families work with the school to have an assessment completed and identify any additional resources. The school district works with the household to find transportation options to and from the assessment.
