What has changed for you since moving into stable housing?
My home is so much more than the obvious — a roof over my head providing shelter from the wet and cold. My home has created the possibility of otherwise unreachable changes in my life.
My home has allowed me to move from the instability of violence and mental and physical illness to the stability of peace and better health.
My home has enabled me to create a paradigm shift from a vicious cycle of violence and negativity to one of hope and a positive future.
I see Housing Hope as a springboard or starting point of this positive change. I have participated in two of the HopeWorks’ training programs. The culinary training at Kindred Kitchen granted me the ability to obtain a very rewarding restaurant job that I loved. Due to physical limitations, I had to let that job go. I am now training for retail at Renew Home and Decor, the furniture store, and I am really enjoying it.
I love my home and am looking forward to a bright future!
