As summer begins to wind down, I've been reflecting on the incredible people, partnerships, and moments that continue to move Housing Hope's mission forward. This month, I'm excited to introduce a new member of our leadership team, celebrate the joy our residents experienced through Summer Camps made possible by Community of Hope, and recognize the remarkable impact of our volunteers and community partners.
Welcome Glen Beasley to Housing Hope
I am thrilled to welcome Glen Beasley as Housing Hope's new Senior Director of Resource Development, Marketing, and Communications.
Glen brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, relationship-building, and strategic communications. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a passion for connecting communities with meaningful causes and helping organizations grow their impact through philanthropy and storytelling.
At Housing Hope, Glen will lead our fundraising, marketing, communications, volunteer engagement, and community outreach efforts. As we continue to expand affordable housing, supportive services, and workforce development opportunities throughout Snohomish County, Glen's leadership will help strengthen our ability to engage supporters, deepen community partnerships, and share the powerful stories that demonstrate the life-changing impact of our work.
Please join me in welcoming Glen to the Housing Hope family. We are excited for this next chapter and grateful to have his expertise helping us advance our mission.
Summer Camps Create Lasting Memories
One of the greatest joys of summer is watching children have the opportunity to learn, grow, and simply be kids. Thanks to the generosity of Community of Hope donors and supporters, Housing Hope was able to provide 60 weeks of summer camp experiences across 8 camps to children ages 3 through 14 living in our communities this year.
For many of the families we serve, summer camp is simply not financially attainable. Community of Hope funding helped remove that barrier, giving children access to opportunities that enrich their lives beyond the classroom. Throughout the summer, campers participated in a variety of programs that encouraged creativity, exploration, physical activity, friendship, and personal growth. Whether attending outdoor adventure camps, arts and enrichment programs, or recreational day camps, these experiences allowed children to develop new skills, build confidence, and create lasting memories.
The impact extends far beyond a few weeks of summer fun. Parents gained peace of mind knowing their children were engaged in safe, supportive environments, while children returned with greater confidence, stronger social connections, and unforgettable experiences. These opportunities embody what Community of Hope is all about: ensuring that families not only have stable housing but also access to the experiences and opportunities that help them thrive.
To everyone who contributes to Community of Hope, thank you for helping make 60 weeks of summer camp possible and for investing in the futures of the children and families we serve. Huge thank you to the Boys & Girls Club of Monroe and YMCA of Snohomish County!
Volunteers Continue to Strengthen Our Communities
I also want to recognize the incredible work highlighted in Caitlin Rose's most recent Volunteer & Community Engagement Quarterly Report. The second quarter of 2026 demonstrated the tremendous impact volunteers and community partners have across Housing Hope's communities.
During a busy event season, volunteers played an important role in the success of our annual Stone Soup Gala, helping support an event that welcomed more than 500 attendees and advanced our mission through fundraising and community engagement.
We also saw meaningful impact through numerous community improvement projects. Volunteers from eBay returned to support improvements at Tomorrow's Hope Garden, enhancing safety and accessibility while contributing financially to the project. The Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties transformed outdoor gathering spaces at Madrona Highlands by installing picnic tables, benches, and recreational improvements for residents. Holy Rosary Church provided more than 300 spring and Easter baskets to children and families across our portfolio, while volunteers partnered with residents to beautify shared garden spaces at Edmonds Lutheran Church.
Perhaps most exciting is the foundation being laid for future growth. Caitlin's report highlights ongoing efforts to expand volunteer engagement, strengthen partnerships throughout Snohomish County, launch our Ambassador network, and preserve Housing Hope's nearly 40-year history through a major digitization project led by dedicated volunteers.
To every volunteer, donor, partner, and supporter: thank you. Your generosity makes our work possible and helps create stronger, healthier communities for the families we serve.
Until next month,
Kathryn "Kat" Opina
