Affordable Housing communities can often times be anything but affordable to maintain. Over the years, units get damaged, roofs need repairing, site upgrades need to happen, and any number of other repairs will need to be addressed. With over 633 units across 22 housing communities, repair bills and costs can add-up quickly for our agency. That is why we are so unbelievably excited to announce that Housing Hope has been awarded a $4,000,000 grant through the Washington State Department of Commerce Multifamily Housing Unit’s (MHU) 2026 Housing Preservation Program (HPP)! This grant will cover repair and maintenance costs at our Avondale Village, Commerce Building, Lincoln Hill Village, and Woods Creek Village housing communities, and will strategically target some of the most needed repairs for each location.

Housing Hope is just one recipient of the 47 multifamily housing preservation awards, totaling $39.5 million, being awarded across the state. These awards will preserve the livability of 1,429 multifamily affordable housing units in the state’s Housing Trust Fund portfolio. Awarded properties will implement major building improvements and system replacements for the benefit of affordable housing residents. We are honored to be chosen as part of this amazing initiative and are extremely thankful for Washington's dedication toward supporting affordable housing agencies like ours during such uncertain funding times!

Thank you to the Department of Commerce and our state Legislators for providing our agency with the vital funding we need for these properties, and thank you to Rachel Downes & Katie Osborn for working tirelessly on writing and securing the grant for Housing Hope and the residents that we serve daily!
